MONUMENT 0.2: Valda & Gus at Akademie der Künste

After MONUMENT 0.1, a fiction for the theater stage, Tanz Im August 2016 presents MONUMENT 0.2, a performance for the exhibition space. It welcomes the return of its performers: Valda Setterfield and Gus Solomons Jr. They met in New York City by the early 1960's, a time when the avant garde scene would gather in downtown Manhattan and reconfigure the forms of artistic experience, be it through Happenings, Events, or other such - a time when the modernist building of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin's Tiergarten opened to the public. Almost sixty years later, the latter offers its space to the former. And invites the visitors to experience a journey through words and gestures, history and memory.
